Renate Hallet
Renate is a paediatric physiotherapist with over 30 years experience of working with children and young adults with physical disability in the community, hospitals and special and mainstream schools for the National Health Services (NHS) in London and Nottingham. Renate has a particular interest in working with people with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions.
Between 2005 and 2008, Renate volunteered on two projects in Romania and Transdnistria/Moldova and in 2008 and 2009 led 4 one-week workshops for therapists and rehabilitation technicians in the treatment and management of children with Cerebral Palsy in Malawi and Ghana. She has been involved in the preparation for teaching assignments for CP Africa, the development of teaching resources (including video editing), networking, and the organisation and collection of suitable assessment toys and special boots / equipment for children for different projects. In conjunction with Lynda Baxter, Renate is involved with the Hippocrates centre for special needs children in Chisinau, Moldova, providing information, training and equipment.
Lynda Baxter
A qualified teacher, children’s counsellor and play therapist, Lynda has worked for many years in the UK and in Moldova, specialising in the assessment of children with learning difficulties. She has extensive experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams, including paediatricians, social workers and educationalists and has a special interest in autism. Lynda has visited Transdnistria/Moldova on many occasions to help with the rehabilitation of institutionalised children in Bender. Lynda is working with us in our pilot project in Moldova, evaluating the needs of children with other specialists. She has visited the Hippocrates children’s physiotherapy centre in Chisinau on many occasions, initially for observation but latterly to provide training.
