Make a splash, make a difference

Lumos supporter Michelle Maurice is Lighting a Birthday Candle for Lumos by holding a party on 31st May. She and her friend Donna have invited 40 families to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of water-themed party games, whilst raising vital funds for Lumos. Michelle says:
"I decided to organise a Birthday Party for Lumos after watching the news report about the cost of children’s birthday parties on GMTV. I have young children myself and know first hand that you can quite easily get swept under by the competitiveness and rising costs of children's parties. So I was shocked to hear that so many children in Europe are living in large institutions and unable to celebrate their birthdays. I hope that our contribution will help children in central and eastern Europe who cannot live with their families to celebrate their birthdays next year, as well as bringing this issue to the attention of the public who can help make these dreams possible. You only get one childhood, let's help make it memorable for everyone."
Lumos is asking families, friends, employees and community groups to raise vital funds by hosting a ‘birthday’ party and buying or baking cakes to bring into work.
