A welcome act

2 February 2010

Lumos warmly welcomes the announcement by the government of the Czech Republic that it has approved the National Action Plan (NAP) on reforming children’s services. We are proud to have been involved in the development of the policy document for the reform of children’s homes and look forward to working with the government is assisting them with the deinstitutionalisation process.

We have also been asked by the government to attend, as an observer and advisor, the inter-ministerial group to oversee the implementation of the NAP. We also organised a study tour to the UK in November for a small group of officials from the Ministry of Education to visit children’s services in Camden, as well as meeting with senior policy advisors in the UK.
